Questions
Hardwood FAQs
What is the difference between solid and engineered hardwood?
Solid hardwood is one piece of wood all the way through. Engineered hardwood has a real wood top layer over a stable core, which makes it less likely to move with changes in humidity. Both are real wood, and we can help you decide which suits your home.
Is hardwood a good choice for a kitchen?
It can be, with some care around spills. If you want a wood look with a waterproof core, luxury vinyl plank is worth comparing. We bring samples of both so you can see them side by side.
Why does hardwood need to acclimate?
Wood expands and contracts with moisture. Letting it adjust to your home before installation helps prevent gaps and cupping later.
